3D concept versus 2D concept ... or object model versus DB model

Objects width his behavior and his state act in a tridimensional environment ? Relational Database has a bidimensional form ? This are two questions that now are passing on my mind. Questions about how we can approach this concepts. Some one ask me today if the object model can be used to design a "database". I am not a DBA, but I imagine objects as representation of the reality, more ore less, objects that have state and behavior and database as a snapshot of the reality or of the objects state in a specific moment a space in witch we want to mantain also the trace of the transitions that objects have on their lifecycle. My question for him was that it's not the right way to do it, but hi have to think first about real objects of the rapresentations of this objects, classes behavior interactions etc. after this think about what are the moments and the situations in witch he need to save the objects state and there he will need to think about the DB. For this now I have in mind the tridimensional and dynamic world of the objects that is different of the bidimensional world of the database. And I hope that some Database expert will find accidentally this text and contradicts my raw idea. And also some OOP programmer that think this is good or not.
